Posthumanism around 1900: BTWH Conference 2022

This is a conference focusing on the posthumanism around 1900—focusing on problems of human-animal-machine relations, gender (drawing on previous work undertaken by our network on the “Mothers of Modernity”), and media—funded by the Institute for the Arts and Humanities, Carolina Seminars and the Douglass Hunt Fund, UNC GSLL, Duke Department of German Studies. The conference will include the participation international scholars associated with the BTWH Network on the Emergence of German Modernity from the University of Vienna, University of Tübingen, University of Missouri, Harvard University, among other institutions. The workshop includes a screening of Hans Werckmeister’s 1920 film Algol.
