Dr. Eliza Rose presented a chapter from her in-progress book at the AATSEEL 2022 Conference in Philadelphia in February and more recently, as an invited lecturer at the University of Warsaw. The chapter recovers the forgotten history of an art festival hosted at a coal mine in southwest Poland in 1971. The festival became a venue for heated debates about ecological management and gave rise to ecological art projects that exhibit surprisingly technocratic attitudes. Dr. Rose has also been working with faculty across campus to organize support for scholars displaced by the war in Ukraine.
