Professor Eliza Rose presented current research on Ursula K. Le Guin’s invented Central European country at a Carolina Public Humanities Seminar on February 11, 2021 (link) and for the University of Glasgow’s Writing in Transit Research Cluster on March 17, 2021. Professor Rose’s recent translations from Polish appear in Ilona Németh: Eastern Sugar (Sternberg Press, 2021, link) and the journal Miejsce, no. 6, 2020 (link).

Thanks to support from a Course Enrichment grant from the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies (CSEEES), acclaimed filmmaker Želimir Žilnik paid a visit to Dr. Eliza Rose’s spring 2021 course GSLL 287 Into the Streets: 1968 and Dissent in Central Europe. In December, 2020, Professor Rose’s Polish class (PLSH 403 Intermediate Polish I) collaborated with UNC University Libraries and the Polish Consulate in Washington, D.C. on a Wikipedia “edit-a-thon” to add and improve Wikipedia articles on Polish women.
