Intellectual Biography & Awards

My research interests are German Romanticism and Ludwig Tieck, Ekphrasis Studies, Visual studies and cognition, and Psychopathology in 18th and 19th century German Literature. My monograph, which is based on my dissertation, Dreams, Hallucinations, Dragons, the Unconscious, and Ekphrasis in German Romanticism: Ludwig Tieck’s Skillful Study of the Mind was published by Peter Lang in 2018. Currently, I am working on my second monograph titled “Dreams, Explanatory Metaphors, and Ekphrasis in G.E. Lessing’s Plays” which is scheduled for publication in early 2021. My essay “The Sociohistorical and Gendered Implications of Gazing Tenderly in Ludwig Tieck’s Liebeszauber” will appear in the volume The Tender Gaze: Compassionate Encounters on the German Screen, Stage, and Page co-edited by Muriel Cormican and Jennifer Marston William.
