Works in Progress: Corina Stan “Affordances of a New Language: Abbas Khider’s Claim to Community in German for Everyone.”

September 10, 2020 @ 8:00 pm

We’d like to invite you to our first Works in Progress meeting this semester.

On Thursday, September 10 at 8:00pm, Prof. Corina Stan will present her paper “Affordances of a New Language: Abbas Khider’s Claim to Community in German for Everyone.” Corina is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature in the English Department at Duke, where she works on British, French and German twentieth- and twenty-first century literature. Prof. Priscilla Layne (UNC, German) will give a brief response.

A few words about the format:
Since we will be meeting remotely, we are pre-circulating Corina’s paper (attached below) and ask you to read it before our meeting. Corina will frame and summarize the paper at the beginning of our gathering. In order to be mindful of everyone’s Zoom overload, we will also keep the meeting shorter than usual. Knowing the CDG community, we will have a productive and lively conversation despite all of these adjustments!
