The department honors Hana Pichova, professor of Czech language and literature, on the occasion of her retirement from the University this summer. In addition to her teaching and research, Prof. Pichova has taken on a number of different roles in the department. Particularly noteworthy is her service as director of undergraduate studies for the entire unit (2017–2022), a duty that she fulfilled with dedication and forbearance. Although Prof. Pichova won’t be a physical presence in the classroom, we look forward to her continuation as a valued member of the department in her new role as professor emerita.
