Prof. Richard Langston has agreed to serve as chair of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures for a four-year term, beginning on July 1, 2022. Members of the department owe a debt of gratitude to outgoing chair Prof. Eric Downing for his outstanding leadership, especially during times of crisis and pandemic. We wish Eric well in everything he ventures forth toward in his post-chairship and look forward to working with Dick over the next four years.
