The Future of German Jewish Studies: April 11, 2021 book launch for Moments of Enlightenment: In Memory of Jonathan M. Hess (edited by Ruth von Bernuth and Eric Downing, Boydel & Brewer). The papers in this collection were presented at the Jonathan M. Hess Symposium “Moments of Enlightenment: German Jewish Interactions from the 18th Century to the Present,” which took place at UNC-CH on April 13–15, 2019. This three-day conference (link) brought together colleagues and collaborators, as well as former students of Professor Jonathan M. Hess (1965–2018). The book launch will be hosted by Professor William Collins Donahue (University of Notre Dame), founding co-editor (with Professor Martha B. Helfer, Rutgers University) of the book series Nexus: Essays in German Jewish Studies and will include a moderated panel discussion featuring conference speakers. Registration here. Event details available from the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies (link).
